Mr Dickson always offers to see his patients on two occasions before booking an operation to ensure all questions and concerns have been fully addressed.
Mr Dickson’s approach to his team: -
“I am a big believer in team spirit. I like to build trust in the team around me and the colleagues I work with. I like my team to feel happy, confident and relaxed in my presence so they can focus on the job in hand and be at their best. I like all of my staff to feel valued so they can take positive action and initiative whenever needed to make things better for patients”.
Mr Dickson’s approach to patient consultations: -
“Whenever a patient undergoes an operation there are both benefits and risks and this is always at the forefront of my mind. This balance must always be considered very carefully. For any given problem, I always seek to identify the treatments that will offer my patients the most benefit for the least possible risk. At the end of the day I want my patients to be safe and happy, that’s the most important thing. I like to work with my patients to understand them. Sometimes an operation really can be a wonderful and life-changing step for a patient and sometimes the best thing in the end is to have no treatment at all. It all depends, and the key thing is to make the best decisions we can by having a really good consultation together”.
